Om Tat Sat- I am That

‘If you apply your spirit and all your love, every day, to the practice of identification with the supreme being, the source of life, the first cause, the Father of all creatures, there will be a moment when it will be as though God himself and all his splendour, power, love and wisdom were with you. The initiates of India and Tibet all work on identification. They have this formula. ‘I am That’ which they repeat constantly for years. In this way they try to eliminate any notion of separation between human beings and the Godhead. God alone exists and human beings are simply one of his manifestations. After years of  practising this exercise of identification, an initiate is capable of working miracles. Yes, in fact, it is very simple, but human beings are busy with other things. They never think about identifying with the Deity; they prefer to identify with animals. When they have lived together for years, the master begins to look like his dog instead of the dog looking like his master! So, …

The strength to serve- putting truth into practice

Photo: ‘Brother Mikhael’ in 1958 “The Creator has given us a will, so that we can make it the instrument of our higher nature by placing it at the service of a high ideal. The first step is to understand and apply some essential truths. Once you have understood an essential truth, use your will to put it into practice, in the knowledge that this is the only way to understand it fully. It is easy to state truths; anybody can go and find them in the works of a few sages and then repeat them parrot-fashion. By doing so they may gain the respect of a few people blind enough not to see how ignorant and weak they really are. But deceiving the blind is not a very great achievement! In any case, there are others who see things clearly and are not so easily fooled: the beings of light in the invisible world. In fact, it is these entities whose respect we must earn, and we will earn it by applying the truths …

Rhythmic breathing- the universal ebb and flow

‘Everything breathes- trees, oceans, even stones… The earth is alive and it breathes; the stars too. Yes, they breathe in and out and the influence of their respiration is felt even here on earth…. Respiration can reveal great mysteries to you, but only when you accompany it with some mental work. As you breathe out, think that you are expanding to the very limits of the universe and then, as you breathe in again, you contract and withdraw into yourself, into your Self, that imperceptible point at the centre of an infinite circle. Again  you expand and again you contract… In this way you will discover the movement of the ebb and flow which is th key to all the rhythms of the universe. When you become conscious of this movement within your own being, you enter into the harmony of the cosmos and establish a relationship of exchange between yourself and the universe for, as you breathe in, you inhale elements from space and , as you breathe out, you send out into space …

Primordial knowledge- remembering what we've always known

“You already know many things, but you do not know that you know. This knowledge comes from a very long time ago, when you still dwelt in the bosom of the Eternal, in light, love and beauty. There you learned everything about your divine origin, your predestination, the work you would have to do on earth to give expression to all the powers of your soul and your spirit. But in coming down to incarnate into matter, you forgot almost everything, and so you need a Master, a teacher, to remind you of what you had already learned about yourself and about the meaning of life. You will all have had the experience, when reading or hearing certain explanations or truths, of something inside you exclaiming, ‘But I know that already!’ Yes, you only had to be reminded, just as embers are rekindled from beneath the ashes.” Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov Daily Meditation This extract rings so true to me. Loving wisely

“What humans need most is to love and be loved, to give love and receive love. And the truth is that they have a greater need to love than to be loved. Yes, to love, because it is their love that makes them alive and inspires them. To love is the greatest source of blessings. This is why you must never prevent your heart from loving: love all of creation, all creatures, always seeking how best to express your love. However, if you have love for all creatures, it does not mean you should not be cautious. If you expose your love too much, you run the risk of being taken advantage of. So wisdom must have its say too. It will teach you how to show reserve but without stifling your love. It is often better to keep your love secret, so that it can work for the good of yourself and others.” Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov

Is it love or sexuality?

How can we tell the difference between love and sexuality when, in relationships between couples, the two generally go together? Sexuality, when expressed without love, is an egocentric tendency which incites human beings to seek their own pleasure, even to the detriment of their partner. Love, on the contrary, thinks first and foremost of the other’s happiness. It is based on sacrifice: the sacrifice of time, energy or money, if necessary, in order to help the other, to enable the other to blossom and develop all his or her qualities. Nothing is more beautiful than love, when men and women are ready to accept deprivation, to wrest something from themselves in order to give it. So ask yourself whether the person you love is benefiting from your love. If they are becoming ill and weak and losing their love for life, ask yourself what you have done to harm this creature. You should have taken care of them as you would tend a garden flower. But if you see that the person you love is growing …
