Freedom is …

To what extent are human beings free? Thinkers and theologians have discussed this question for centuries without reaching agreement; because they are not asking the correct question. Freedom is not a condition that is either given or not, once and for all, to humanity. Instead of asking, ‘Am I free?’ each of us must understand that our present life is the consequence of our past life, and it is impossible to return to the past and change it. We must endure the past and assimilate it, and this is what we are doing in the present life. But as for the future, we are free, because only the present gives us the potential to create the future we wish for. This is how to ask the question about freedom. Knowing that from now on we are able to determine our future; we are preparing ourselves to become more and more the masters of our destiny, so we no longer endure the present, we shape it. Revelations from a starry sky

“Even after all these years, I still remember certain experiences I had when I was young, in Bulgaria. In the Summer, when the master Peter Deunov and the members of the Brotherhood camped in the Rila Mountains, I would sometimes climb up and spend the night at the top of Mount Musallah. I would wrap myself up in several blankets and, stretching out on my back, I would gaze up at the starry sky and try to to link myself myself to the cosmic forces and entities of which the stars are only the physical aspect. I could not understand all that they said to me, but I loved them; my whole soul glowed with the wonder of them while I lay and looked at them until, without realizing, I finally fell asleep. Sometimes it would snow a little during the night and I would wake up to find myself under a light covering of snow. But that never worried me: I was happy! Those were the years in which I discovered the extraordinary peace …

Musical succession of the planets and days

Sunday (the Sun), Monday (the Moon), Tuesday (Mars), Wednesday (Mercury), Thursday (Jupiter), Friday (Venus), Saturday (Saturn): the succession of the seven days of the week corresponds symbolically to a musical arrangement of the planets. And since each day corresponds to a planet, like the planets, they file past the Creator, one after another, singing. They are linked together like beads on an endless rosary, forming a chain whose progression is inscribed in eternity. If rosaries have such great importance in some religions, it is because they symbolise the unfolding of cosmic forces, the infinite succession of elements and beings. And we too must never forget that we form part of this chain: it is thanks to our conscious awareness of belonging to this infinite progression that we live in unison with cosmic harmony. Happy New Year

Happy New Year! On this first day of the year, you are all full of hope! You tell yourselves, “I didn’t get what I was hoping for during the last year, but now, with the new year, I shall.” Each new year brings hope even to the most despondent. Even if deep down they may not be so convinced, they still have some hope. With each new year hope is reborn: you cannot help but think that something is going to improve for you, that a door will open. You will say, “And what if nothing improves and no door opens?” At least one door will open if you believe you have to do something to make it happen. And what is that? Picture yourself in particular situations in your life, and imagine you are behaving fairly, wisely and lovingly. By working in this way, you are already preparing your future. If you are sincere and persevere, you will have an influence on the forces of nature and the beings of light in the invisible …
