Video: OM- sound of creation

“In the Hindu tradition, the syllable Om represents the original sound of creation: it corresponds to what the Christian tradition calls the Logos, the creative Word. It is associated with Kalahamsa, the great mythological bird that laid the primordial egg, out of which emerged the universe. The syllable Om possesses extremely powerful, intense vibrations, from which the Hindus have made a mantra. They repeat it continuously in their meditations. You, also, could pronounce this mantra, either out loud or inwardly. Concentrate on this word, without thinking of anything else  and repeat: Om, om, om… You could also use a breathing exercise: For example, breathe through your nose, mentally pronouncing Om 4 times, then very slowly exhale through your mouth  while repeating Om one more time. After a while, you will feel calmed and recharged with new energy. The syllable Om can also be pronounce Aoum, and it is in this form that we sing it in the brotherhood. Those of you that are conscious of the magical power of sound, will eventually begin to sense …

Video: Om Mani Padme Hum

For anyone who, like myself, loves singing and chanting sacred songs and mantras, I’m sharing a beautiful version of the OM MANI PADME HUM from the Youtube channel of Patricia Sáez Campos. It’s accompanied by lively Tibetan music and images of joyful children. The simplicity and happiness on their faces fills me with happiness myself. Here is also a brief extract from the master about the Buddha of compassion who was said to have given the mantra to humanity: All Buddhas are greatly venerated in Tibet, but above all, Tibetans venerate Buddha Avalokiteshvar. According to legend, he is the son of Buddha Amithabha, and it is he who first pronounced the sacred syllables: OM MANI PADME HUM. Legend also recounts how one day, on looking at the world of human beings and seeing their suffering and infinite misery, he was filled with such compassion that his head exploded into pieces. His father, Buddha Amithabha, then gave him ten heads, to which he added his own, and at the same time, a thousand arms came out of …

Video:Sweet scent of roses

“People love to receive and give flowers; they put them in their homes, plant them in their gardens, go to admire them in parks and in nature and marvel at their shapes, their colours and their perfumes. But they think of them mainly as decorative features that make life more pleasant, so their interest in flowers remains superficial, and they do not gain much benefit from their presence. But what are flowers really? They are living beings with which we can create a relationship. Yes, a flower is not simply a piece of matter with a colour and perfume; it is the home of an entity that has come to speak to us of earth and heaven. And if we know how to look at it, how to relate to it, we connect with the forces of nature, with the entities that work to make the flower such a life-giving, poetic presence”. This video ‘Just Blossom’ describes how flowers- by just being- are models to us of spiritual unfoldment. They also help us fill our lives …

Video -Love is a spring

The video I’m posting today contains more of Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov’s insights into the ‘Living Book of Nature’.. In early childhood, the master would search out the  little spring in the hills near his home in Varna, Bulgaria. The gentle murmur of its waters whispered  to him its secrets of life and love and he would spend hours listening to its message…

Video:The secret life of trees

The master loved to visit forests wherever he travelled. While on a trip to the Highlands of Scotland he was deeply moved by what emanated from the trees there- he called Scotland a blessed country because of the pure presence of those trees. I recently found a text where he speaks of the unknown, spiritual side of trees and I have used it for this video. Here is an extract from the Daily Meditations of 23rd September, which speaks of the invisible inhabitants of silence. It was taken from the book, ‘The Path of Silence’. Silence is inhabited by countless beings, in forests, lakes, seas, mountains, and underground too – the Creator has placed inhabitants everywhere. Even fire is inhabited, so too is the ether, the sun, the stars – the entire universe is inhabited. So wherever you go, in the mountains, in the forests, by rivers, lakes or oceans, if you want to be like a child of God, aspiring to a life that is subtler and filled with more light, do not disturb the …

Video: Surya Yoga at sunrise

I have just spent six weeks at the Bonfin, the  international spiritual community in the south of France, where the master gave the vast majority of his lectures. Each day started while the last stars were still shining as we climbed up to ‘the rock’ to watch the sunrise. These sunrise meditations, or Surya Yoga, as he sometimes called them, are the most precious moments of my day and I created this video to try and capture, in some small way, their beauty and inspiration. Here are a few recommendations on preparing for sunrise: Prepare yourselves in advance for the sunrise: be careful not to eat too much or go to bed too late, and avoid doing anything that might trouble or upset you. In other words, try to do everything in such a way as to be free with a clear mind and a heart at peace. If you come to see the sun in the morning with your mind centred exclusively on this essential work, knowing that your happiness, your health and your …

Video:Meditate on light…

People think there is nothing they can do to help or improve humanity as a whole. Well, it might seem like an impossible task- it is certainly gigantic-but if you learn certain methods, you will see that all of a sudden it becomes possible…Try to imagine, for instance, that the whole of humanity is condensed into a single being, standing there by your side, and you hold the hand of this being and give them quantities of light and love. When you do this, some minute particles go out from your soul, and the love you give this one being reflects on every being in the world; they begin to  conceive nobler thoughts and desires in their heart. If hundreds and thousands of people on earth did this exercise, you would see the breath of a new, divine spirit in humanity, and without knowing how or why, they would one day wake up to find themselves completely transformed.
